Formed in 26 October 1920 as Compania de Aviacion del
Ejercito, renamed in 1927 into Cuerpo de Aviadores Militares del
Ejercito, renamed again in 1935 to Fuerza Aérea del Ejercito
Ecuatoriana and finaly became Fuerza Aérea Equatoriana in 1944,
the Ecuador Air Force (homepage at <www.fae-ec.org>)
is using the same roundel from its begining
(see <www.skytamer.com>.
The sole change was by removing the roundel from the fuselage and
keep it only on the wings in late 1940' (see <www.skytamer.com>).
As costumary in South America, the national flag is used as
rudder stripes on non-camuflagued planes and as fin flash on
camuflaged machines. [whe86] show
it sqare (see <www.airliners.net/489530>
and <www.airliners.net/511672>).

Another matter is the Naval air arm (Aviacio'n Naval Equatoriana
- est. 19 June 1967) - [cos98]
show it as roundel charged with anchor (<www.skytamer.com>)
while album 2000 [pay00] and [whe86] report a black anchor on white
disc bordered black. Photos at <www.studenten.net>
and <www.laahs.com>
prove [cos98] wrong......
Aviacio'n del Ejército Equatoriana (Army Aviation) use the same
roundel as the Air Force (see <www.5chr.freeserve.co.uk>).

According to Album 2000 [pay00]
- Yellow-blue-red concentric roundel with colour ratio as in the
nationa flag. Album 1990 [pie90]
gives roundel with equidistant disks, that is wrong, and latter
corrected in corr. 29, though there colours are yellow, green and
black (also here apears naval roundel). Correction 30 gives
correct roundel, and my guess is that both 1995 and corr. 29 are
just simple errors.

Fuerza Ae'rea Ecuatoriana uses a modified national flag ,
similar to Colombia.

Cochrane & Elliot 1998 [cos98]
give also the naval roundel as combination of the coloured
roundel with the black anchor, though it says that the white disk
is also used.
